the reaction is chemical.
it is a form of reflux that causes the convulsion,
a muscle spasm occurs as a result of the tension causing an acid to from in the esophugus.
convulsions are projections of bodily fluids.
seizures are eruptions of energy created within a bodily system.

a convulsion is a seizure,and has nothing to do with feeling something.,..they are involuntary movements..originate from misfired electrical impulses in the brain

cant answer the forth or third question..but the answer to the first/second one is..
when ur lungs arent gettting air.your body automatically tries to suck in and when it gets water..ur lungs flip out and try to put it back up ur throat throwing ur body into a convultian and a convultian is a spasm of the body.
