Yes, yes you can. It is actually VERY common nowadays for women to choose to have a c-section over having a natural birth. This is because they want to know when and where things are happening, without worrying about going into labor at a time that doesn't quite work.
There are just as many, if not more, risks associated with c-sections as there are with natural births. Be sure to discuss all possiblities with your doctor before making a decision. (I'm all for choosing a c-section; just be sure you know what could happen.)
Good luck and congrats!

it depends on a lot of things, where you are, it is more likely in the US to have an opted c-section even if you are perfectly capable of having a natural birth. Think about it for a minute before you make this decision though. Having a c-section is considered major surgery where as with vaginal birth you may have to get a few stitches, but very rarely anything major. Many dr's won't do a c-section if it is not needed, if the baby is not breech, if you both are healthy and so on. Also I was told that it takes longer for the uterus to shrink back to pre-baby size with a c-section since certain hormones aren't released as much or at all compaired to a vaginal birth.

There are many doctors who will do an unnecessary
c-section just because a woman wants it. It's called "an elective c-section". Personally, I think it's a terrible idea. The risks of major abdominal surgery are significant. While most c-sections go smoothly, and most women recover well, this is not always true. You could have problems for the rest of your life from adhesion's of scar tissue, damage to other organs, etc.
The risks of a vaginal delivery and less.
Why not just wait and see how your labor goes? There are ways to manage the pain, if that's what you are worried about.

Yes, many care providers will perform a "patient's choice" cesarean.
That being said, make sure your decision is an informed one. You can start with the international cesarean awareness network and their website - http://www.ican-online.org.
Many people feel that cesarean birth is as safe or safer than vaginal birth; however recent studies show that this is not the case. For example, even though very few mothers and babies die in any births in the U.S., babies born by cesarean were twice as likely to die than those born vaginally, and mothers having cesareans were nearly three times more likely to die than those having vaginal births. This was after excluding moms and babies who needed cesareans due to risk factors - this was just counting people who had a cesarean because they wanted to.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Please know that birth is not something to fear, but can be a very empowering experience, whatever choices you make, if you educate yourself and make informed choices! You can also visit the website of the coalition to improve maternity services at http://www.motherfriendly.org.
Whatever you choose, I hope you have a good experience and a healthy baby!

do what your doctor tells you. i'm assuming you are quite young. with a c-section, you have alot of scarring, your stomach muscles will be very lose and it takes longer to heal and be able to have energy again. vaginal birth is much better. especially today with breast feeding you will have your figure back in no time.
