Do you think you would have an easier time murdering a human rather than another animal lets say... a dog? Do you have a general hatred of humanity that would allow you to murder them easier?

Lets exclude the criminals from this one.

Neither. Killing a human being and killing a dog is just as nasty. Why would you want to do that? You need help big time.

Yeah. the easier time would be when the dog is your bestfriend. You'll feel a bit of fear of being alone compared to a human that you do not know.
The general hatred that you're talking about would depend on the psychological level of the murderer. If by chance all that sorrounds him hates him, then he would stereotype and would eventually hate everyone. That hatred and anger would be the main cause of his indifference to killing.

Even if you murder the dog, still you are a murderer. The thought and the subsequent act does matter. A person who murders a faithful and obedient dog -- can do anything. Maybe humans are selfish and bad, but we should hate the sin and not the sinner. As long as there is life there is hope that the sinner will repent and change his ways. Murder will finish the sinner but the sin will remain. It is better to murder the 'sin' and spare the sinner.

I believe there are some people in this world I would gladly dispose of instead of a dog, but I also believe it's not my place to judge who stays and who goes.

Extreme hypothetical situation: An insane gunman puts a piece to my head and says, "Shoot the boy or his puppy." You bet your *** I'd blow that dog's head off and never think twice about it. Of course, I'd hope for the chance to shoot the gunman instead, sparing both human and canine. However, that sort of nonsense belongs in an Eli Roth movie.

I never had to kill another human being in the line of duty, thank God, but I was trained and ready if the need had arisen. I could have, though if I had had to. There's no doubt in my ex-military mind.

However, I don't advocating killing any living being needlessly. War and self and home defense are the only two reasons I could possibly condone for myself.

The only way I would {be able} to kill a dog would be 1. In self defense or in defense of a loved one or 2. If the poor creature was suffering and there was no hope of curing or relieving its pain.
