I bust My *** at work, I Give everything I have for what I get, and Trust me, It isn't much. I don't have to imagine going through life without being rich, I live it. I work hard to make ends meet and So do a Lot of other people. As for people making excuses, which some do, That's just plain laziness.
One Thing Tho. Money ISN'T Everything. The relationships we foster throughout our lives are assets which need tending Just like finances, and for that matter, every other important thing in our lives. I don't think the people You are talking about, are belittling money or saying it because they don't want to work hard for it, I think They are Just stating as fact That there are Other things in life That they care about. Although, like i said, there are people who just make excuses so they can be lazy, that's Not everyone. Ask around. Plenty of people want more, and are just not in a position to get it. Unfortunate but true.
Enjoy, Get Rich, and Happy New Year.

sure everyone wants to be rich but you need to ask yourself are the rich happier? from what i see in the news they aren't they just have more money to get into stuff that will make them more miserable. the thing is the majority of american's aren't even close to being rich and there is something very self satisfying about doing a good days work. on a side note: not that long ago a young woman won the 300+ million dollar lottery, before she won it she lived with her parents, had a fiancee but she wasn't rich, just a regular working person but had the stable family and was happy...after winning the lottery she blew all the money on new cosmetic surgery, married then divorced her fiancee, bought a horse farm and lost it because she didn't know how to run it, drugs, divorce, friends borrowed money, she spent it all without investing any, the family fell apart and within just a few years due to bad decision and worse investments she ended up broke...without family, without her fiancee and right back to where she was before but in much worse shape...so you wonder was her life better or worse because of becoming rich...

Lots of money isn't the only way to be rich. I'd rather be rich in friends and love than money. Of course, money is nice. It's no fun wondering how you're going to pay your bills. Some people have more important things in their lives than making lots of money. Some people work 70 hours a week to be rich, they have no time to spend with loved ones, then they die from stress at too young of an age. Money can be good, but it's not the most important thing in life.

i think that personally the richest person in the world can also be the loneliest and the poorest person in the world can be the happiest. the problem is that society is driven by commerce and money. everything that seems desirable like that sports car and luxury suite is what people want because the better quality of life seems to equal happiness and relaxation. i would have to agree that i would like these things but i also know that once you have something you naturally will want more. the best thing is to be satisfied with what you have now and most likely if people have this mentality, they won't be putting things off. if they are maybe they are too absorbed with how they wish they had this or that. it takes effort to be successful. i'm having a hard time because my personal life is really in turmoil right now and i know that if i had a mansion right now, i still would not be happy. the real key to happiness is love and then success....but people got it reversed in their heads.

Perhaps your view is skewed somewhat.
"Wealth" does not have to only mean money. Some of the most miserable people have more money than they know what to do with. Some of the happiest people have barely anything at all.
I have very little materially and only a modest income. But I have a wonderful family, a comfortable home, and an emotionally rewarding career.
Would I be happier if I were rich? I don't know. And it doesn't really matter.

Like someone already said- I don't need to imagine it. I'm living it.
Then again, what is your definition of "rich"? If you classify "rich" as being happy, having a family, being successful, being comfortable with yourself, and having the ability to love and be loved, then no, I cannot imagine going through life without being rich.
If you classify "rich" as just having a lot of money, then yes, I can imagine not being rich. I dont care if I dont have as much money as,or have more money than, my neighbors.
You can be rich in more than one way.

I must say that I am considered rich, but I never use money because I can't find anything that really matters. I think money is cheap. However, I couldn't imagine going through life without being generally successful.

In about 407 B.C., a guy named Diogenes was sitting in his tub at a wine festival, when Alexander the great came upon him. He knew of Diogenes, and admired his entire philosophy so much that he asked Diogenes if he could get him anything in the world. Diogenes replied "stand out of my sunlight!" Alexander was later quoted as saying that if he were not Alexander the great he would like to be Diogenes.
There is wealth in so many things. So many different means of capturing your soul. Money, in all its capitalist splendor, falls short of the good on a fundamental level, because unless it is bestowed, it cannot be used for good.
You should think deeper perhaps, and find the true value of money. I think you'll find that a wealth of virtue is is a far greater prize.

The majority of the population is middle to lower class, so all of them must imagine being short of money, now anyone can be rich in other things such as friendship. People who lack friendships are very depressing, thus yes and no deppending on the form of the question

You cant be happy just with money. Money is not a guarantee. I mean theres is natural catastrophes and you can end up with no money left and then your life is not worth anything since you life was all about money. At least with family you know they will always be there for you and will help cheer you up. When you have love you are remembered well by those who love you.
