I have just entered my 5th week of pregnancy. I have been having light cramping and some constipation. I asked my nurse at the docs office if this was okay, and she said that is what I should be experiencing. Well today, i finally got my blood test back, my HCG level was 1129.. on the paper it says for being 4-5 weeks it says 1000-50000... so I was worried that was low. also, tonight I had some mild stabbing pains near my left ovarie.. they only lasted like 20 seconds.. not very long at all. this is my first baby, and deathly scared of misscarriage. is this osmething that i should worry about...EEKK, i have been trying for 2 years now...

cramping is very normal. Its your uterus stretching. as for your numbers its ok for them to be that low they are still in the normal range. Good luck and Congrats !

I hear a lot of people say they have cramping and even a little spotting in the first trimester. A stabbing pain on your side could just be where you ovulated from. HCG's have such a wide range, they aren't that great for dating. But they can be helpful if someone starts having a lot of problems and the doctor needs to see if they are rising properly. The #'s usualy double every 48 hours, but don't go up (or not as much) if there is a miscariage or an ectopic. Hopefully the nurse told you to relax, take it easy and call back if the pain gets severe. But I agree it all sounds normal (including the being nervous part!)
Congrats and good luck!

The stabbing-type pains you are experiencing sound like round ligament pains. The round ligaments support your uterus in the front, and as your uterus grows the ligaments sometimes cramp up a bit. Perfectly normal! The constipation is common in pregnancy, especially if you are taking iron supplements. Make sure you eat lots and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and good protein and complex carbs. Not only will the fruits and veggies help with the constipation, but they will help prevent miscarriage (according to a recent study that found lower risk of miscarriage in mothers who ate fresh fruits and veggies) and help you grow a nice healthy baby and have a healthy pregnancy. It is rather common during early pregnancy to get cramping and even light spotting around the time you were supposed to have your period. It sounds to me like you've done everything right, you talked to your doctor's office and if they said things were fine then they probably are just that. TRY not to get stressed, as this is a time where you don't need any added stress.

Congradulations and I wish you the best.

i know it's hard- but stop worrying! =) Cramping is SOOOOOO normal during pregnancy- the only time to worry is if you are cramping severly and having lots of bloody show! Cramping frequently can happen after sex- thanks to semen =) And your HGC level is in the NORMAL range-- if it was LOW - it would have been under 1000.. it's like a babies heartrate- "normal" is like 130-170 or something- so even if it's 130- that doesnt mean their heartrate is Low... it just means they are within the normal range it should be in. Congrats and good luck!

don't worry, its totally normal. I had cramps with both my babies. They can last the whole pregnancy. Don't worry about miscarriage unless you start bleeding.

Based on my research, this is normal. So, don't worry!

If you don't think you will stop worrying, there is no harm whatsoever in talking to your doctor. That's what he/she is there for.
