I am sorry. Death isn't so scary. If you'd like, you should see a therapist. It might help. Just think though. Your life is something you value, and it sounds like you're doing all you can to have a good life. Just live life to the fullest.
Personally, I have the same thoughts as you on death. When we die, all there is is darkness. Morbid? Yeah.
But if you can just have a good life, even if nothing follows it, even if it is short, but if it is sweet and strong, isn't it worth it?
Peace be to you.

Nobody will be able to help you or stop this, until you think very carefully about why you're alive and here in the first place. Why do you think you have the capacity to think, laugh, cry and become afraid of the future or of death? Which sets human beings above the animals.
If you set your mind that this is all there is, it's no wonder you are feeling that way. Every human being has the ability to consider eternity and the realisation that all this, planet, people, food, plants, tree, animals, did not just arrive through chance random processes. If you believe that, you're already dead.
I cannot force you to consider the afterlife and to tell you that Jesus Himself conquered death and gives us hope of the ressurection. The grave is not the end, not for anybody. Even the most evil of people have an eternal soul.
During the day, it is out of your mind, life goes along as normal, but in the still of the night, realisation comes to you and you are filled with dread and anxiety of the idea that you will oneday go into a state of nothingness. You will simply snuff out like a candle and cease to exist.
As you cannot be certain there is no God, and you cannot really be absolutely certain that there is nothing after death, I challenge you one night to talk to God (even if you think this is a joke and he doesn't exist anyway) again, what is there to lose? Tell God, that you do not believe in Him, nor the afterlife and if by any chance He happened to exist, to let you know and lead you to the truth" and when you say this, regardless of preconceived ideas, say it from the heart and mean it.
You don't have to say much, and if He doesn't exist, there is no loss or gain anyway. If however, He does exist, wouldn't you like to know? Instead of going through life dreading the knowledge that death is a certain thing for each of us and you will simply cease to be? How would you like to know that you pass from this life to the next? Some people, die so fast, they don't even know they're dead. The near death experiences are VAST.
When you consider people have been clinically dead, no pulse, no nothing, dead. How is it, they've been given another chance, come back to life and have been able to tell the doctors and nurses the conversation that they had, everything that took place and who came in the room and out and what people were wearing? This is from someone who had previously no pulse, no brain activity and no breathing.
there are many true stories of the unexplained and there is far more to this life!
You are not alone and you do not have to be afraid. Death is far from the end. You do have a point in life and the idea of you ceasing to exist is ridiculous, unthinkable and contrary to your own soul which never dies. The body dies and corrupts, the soul does not.
Death is certain, but so is eternal life, and you are not just a walking organism with no meaning.

Understand That the Universe was around for BILLIONS of years without my existence, and will be around for BILLIONS of years after I am gone, and That there really isn't anything You,I, or anyone else can do about it. Is It Daunting? Damn right it is. The only thing that can really be done about it, Is to try to be Thick skinned about it.
I did read One book That really helped, in an odd Kind of way, Insofar as The guy who wrote it wrote about being Tough and Unflinching and Facing death with Fearlessness, and Sounded In the only spot in the book where It's even mentioned (and at that only in passing) That there was no afterlife as far as he saw it. He was a 17th century Samurai turned Bhuddist Monk By the Name of Yamamoto Tsunetomo and The name of the Book is "Hagakure"
I'd Like to help more, But I honestly don't know How, Except to say That I hope you feel better, Because, Even Tho You may not Think it right now, Everything really Is going to be ok.
Try to Enjoy, And have a Happy New Year.

Try going to sleep with the tv on and listen to your favorite movie on dvd or video, or play smooth music, or try the ocean sounds or the wind blowing. Violins in a cheerful way is great, try the music by Claude De Bussy, "Claire De Lune", or Polly Wog Cake WalK" those are cheerful and music therapy is the best way to the mind to eliviate depression. Read some comedy or watch comedy before sleeping, if you can rent these things do so, dont depend on Comedy Central, sometimes there is too much trash on there. There are CDs out there specifically designed for this type of disorder, and if all else fails go to the doctor and get something else that will relieve your fears and anxiety.

When you say " I have never believed in a god or afterlife so I am feeling very scared and lonely. That word SO sure sticks out. Instead of worrying about it just admit it to yourself. I am going to die, we are all going to die, my kids are going to die. I have seen a lot of death in my life. I used to be freaked out by it too. Now I don't mind the "dead" part, I even embrace it in a strange way. But I don't plan on dying till I am 107, and by then I will just be tired. So celebrate life while you can, and ask yourself what that "so" is trying to tell you..........

Well, I believe in the spiritual world or dimension and I believe that we exist simultaneously as both spiritual and physical beings.
I believe that the part of us living this physical existence is merely a fragment of our whole spiritual selves and that we are operating and making decisions as to the direction of our lives on both levels. I believe that we choose both our lives and our deaths and that death is nothing to be feared. We know, at the spiritual level how and when we will die and we choose it, for various reasons, in order to have certain experiences which we need for the evolution of our souls.
The death of the physical existence is not the end of life at all, merely an entrance into another, higher level of consciousness. Death is a release from the pain of physical existence into the freedom of the spiritual or non-physical plane. I am personally looking forward to it, not that I feel any need to expediate it of course.
Peace be with you my friend!

i once read that the movie ¨Forrest Gump¨ was a excellent tool for people with suicidal tendencies. i would also advice the same movie for your case. find a greater purpose that is gonna keep so busy that you won´t have time for that. unless you were a very naughty girl. other than that read some books on metaphysics . they might help you view life from another perspective. good luck, or better yet, invite someone to dinner, especially someone you had a grudge with. stop judging everybody around. quite the opposite, star paying honest compliments to everybody, you´ll feel at ease before going to bed. i almost forgot, pay any debts you might have. don´t go cheap when it comes to helping the unknown.

If you've never given God a chance, now would be the time to. God does exist and there is an afterlife for those who have been given the gift of eternal life. If you want to know more about it you can email mail me about it. But for now, I can tell you that if you genuinely reach out to God he will be with you and comfort you. You won't be alone, he wil be with you and he will calm your fears. If you have a hard time believing in him, but you really want to know the truth, then ask him to help you to believe and to strengthen your faith.

Thinking of death is quite good - actually one of the major religion encourages it. Why, you ask? It is because, the religion claims, that realization of death will keep you from evil deeds; it will remind you that life is too short and that you should do good things in life rather than the bad. :)

We all have an innate fear of death. Anything we cannot know we are naturally afraid of. However, your fear seems to go beyond the norm and into a kind of phobia.
Please continue to seek counseling. It will help you to learn why you fear death so much and be able to deal with it.
Good luck.
