on my 75 chevy 350 between cylinder 1 and 3 there is something coming out with a wire attatched to it what is it?

That would be a temp. sensor for your dash guage or a temp. switch that will supply a ground for a warning light in the dash at the appropriate high temperature. They located the sensor or switch in the head as this is the highest temperature in a motor.

engine coolant temp sender for the guage in the dash,the wire color should be dark green
