if the humbles advice [making sure the cable is fully seated at both ends] does not fix it find out if your pc is using an on the motherboard video chipset or a addon card if you have a plugin video card ur in luck you can enter the bios and enable the onboard chipset . if ur monitor then works you will know something is wrong wif da plug in card b/t/w is anything flagged in the device manager. there is also a trouble shooter for video card there best o luck

1. check if things has been pluggin properly... VGA or DVI cable
2. check if the monitor is on (with the yellow light on at the bottom right of your monitor)
usually if its not plugged properly, your screen will show a "no signal" message, you would need to confirm if your CPU has been setuped properly. Two things go wrong most often:
1. the cable to send signal from CPU to monitor - vga, dvi
2. your graphic card mite be dead.

Check plug to current and back of monitor. Doesn't take much to disable it. The slightest interruption at the connection will remove power.
