It all depends on how you look at it, For some yes like self who may know of someone who have overcome or has overcame some sort of handicap or adversity that succeeded in life. Because as Forest said in the movie, Quoted by his mom "Life is like a box of chocolate " and "Stupid is as Stupid does" It's all in the way you look at life and what a person has overcame. So yes a true story indeed.

when i was driving thru New Orleans about 2 years ago, i ate at this place called Bubba Gumps that had a guy dressed up like a shrimp in front of it. I saw the movie like a month ago, and so I dont know if a bit of it is true. Forrest gumps story could be based on unsmart peoples accomplishments from around the states. Idk...

it was based on a really bad book. The movie was better. In the book he was a wrestler named "The Flying Turd." Which is also the nickname for the *** that said the true part was that there are a bunch of stupid people in the South. In the immortal words of Lynard Skynard "a southern man don't need him around anyhow"

Don't know, never thought about it...however, it was the most wonderful movie in the last 25 years.

it's fiction....and the movie doesn't even follow the book that closely....for instance, in the book, Jenny never dies...she just moves away with her boyfriend
