Hi, I'm selling my laptop and before I do, I wanted to clear all my personal files/information from it. Does anyone know a good software that can completely clean my laptop up? Basically I want to leave all my Programs on there, however, I want to get rid of my History for Windows files, Internet, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Use ccleaner to remove system junk, simple file shredder to delete your personal files and restoration program to make all deleted files irrecoverable.

You need to delete your Hardrive by writing over the data many times. There are many ways to do this. After Cleaning you can reload windows and sell your machine. Remeber write over the ENTIRE DISC data can be anywhere.

Why dont you just use the recovery cds to restore the laptop to its settings from the manufacturer..
There are a lot of applications to shred the files you do not want others to be able to recover.
Look in download.com or sourceforge.net better..

Best thing u can do is to delete your profile.
Make a adminstrator(new) profile and delete the old account, then delete the folder showing your old profile name, this will delete all the personal information files.
Or you can try windows washer software. try any of this links.

use the restore cd to re-write the hard drive. Otherwise, clear your docs folders, your internet cookies, and your internet temp files (go to tools, internet options)

I always do it manually, just go to your email and delete the account, , that should remove your inbox,sent ect. go to favorites delete all that you placed there, delete network connections {dialup}go to internet explorer tools click to remove history ect.. then you could download ccleaner or Rwipe and clean to remove alll other and wipe it clean

no way to completely remove them if someone like me knows how to get it anyway. Thats why you microwave the drive and replace it befroe you sell the thing.

use windows 98 start up disk and boot from flopy
just tipe format c:/ and format d:/ all data will be lost

They only way you can do this is to restore your computer, but that will wipe out EVERYTHING
