I have a logitech keyboard with the shortcut keys on top (volume, calculator, home, media, messenger, etc). It's fairly new .. less than 2 monthes old. Before that I had the same kind, it lasted well over a year if not longer before I threw it out for cosmetic purposes.
Anyhow... I installed it properly with the setpoint disk so I would be able to use the shortcut keys on top. It was working fine for the first while, now I'm having little annoying problems. Such as ... I can't use the right shift key with the @ symbol, but I can use the left one. The right shift key works for everything else, just not with THAT key. The Z works only with the right shift key and not with the left, the reverse of the @ symbol issue. Annoying and irritating problems, but small enough.
Now I know this has nothing to do with the driver, or shouldn't .. since the keyboard default buttons work before you even put the setpoint disc in. What could be going on here? Any ideas on how to fix?
Thanks ;)

Thinking I should have added this sooner, lol. I HAVE already uninstalled the driver, and reinstalled. It did nothing, like I figured .. since the driver has nothing to do with the default keys. I also formatted my system last night, and am still having the same problems today.
Can't take the keyboard back... been too long .. I'll junk it if need be, but rather not if it can be avoided.
No, no extra computer to test it on unfortunately .... dammit.

I don't 'think' anythings been spilled near this thing ... I"m pretty psychotic about anyone bringing food or drinks near my system .. I'm a computer geek, this is my lifeline!! LOL
I don't own a hairdryer anyhow ... that's what I get for not being a girly girl I guess, lol.
Thanks for the advice peoples ... I'm thinking it's time for a new keyboard. Not worth the cost to call logitech and send this out to be replaced, cheaper to run to walmart and buy a new one, lol.

The only thing I can think of is a defect with the keyboard itself. It should still be under warranty: Replace it.
My idea is that there is a glitch with the internal program on the keyboard which takes the button presses and sends the data to the computer. The problem is that this program is hardwired into a chip(s) in the keyboard, so the only way to fix it is to replace it.

Try uninstalling the Software,
Then Reset the Computer.
Then Remove the Keyboard.
Turn it back on.
Then Reinstall the Keyboard, And Its Software.
This Should work.
Because, The ONLY technology, i Use for my COmpany, is logitech accessories..
and I rarely have a Prblem.
Except for the Exact Prob you speak of..
happens to us around once or twice a month.
Your welcome,
Hope This Helps.

hard to say, but heres some things to try
1 Reboot, if you havent. Also clean with air in a can spray
2 If that key works on the typing , I would uninstall and reinstall the drivers any way.
3 If nothing changes, restore your system to an earlier date that you had the other keyboard working on, (you can always undo it) and if that isnt any good, look online for patches, then take the BROKE keyboard back..lol

Have you tried completely removing the setpoint software , rebooting checking the keystrokes, then re-applying if necessary ?
If you havent remapped anything , then it is probably a software issue.
But Logitech has some of the best Customer Service in the industry - call them and get an RMA - they will send you a new one, and then ask you to send the old one back to them.
I had the mx5000 combo ($150) , hated it and told them it was junk, and they sent me a $199 combo ---free

Do you have another computer that you can test this keyboard on? Or try a spare keyboard on your computer. I am guessing that your computer has reprogrammed your keys, or the keyboard is shorting out.
I have had many keyboards and have worked with 100's of computers, and I have never had a keyboard fail on me unless it was abused in some way.

Sorry to tell ya this hun but your keyboard is going bad....shorting out! Your problem is not driver related. Have you or anyone spilled drinks on or near it? You might try taking your hair dryer to it for a short while!
