the UN is almost useless?

I know that it is an acronym for United Nations, but it does NOT stand for united nations. The nations of the world are not united. It's just a title that makes rich countries feel good about themselves & leads poor countries to believe they have a leg to stand on.

Totally.

The US have demonstrated that if you don't agree with what the UN says - ignore it.

How anyone REALISTICALLY expects any other country to respect a ruing from the UN is beyond me - though I am sure that both Bush and Blair will happily criticise anyone else who behaves so appalingly.

The UN are basically "paper tigers", a pity but demonstrated to be utterly true.

The UN was designed to be a mediator for the world. Just like most mediators they have little to no power....so if countries decide not to abide by the UN's mandated or decisions the UN is useless....but I think it still have a place in the world. Just not as much as in the past.

The UN does have its problems, as do all organizations. But you should consider the humanitarian things that the UN does, like feeding the hungry.

They're completely useless. If our country ever needs help we can pretty much assume that we'll be on our own with absolutely no help from them.
