How does Percocet 5/325 compare to Oxycontin 10?
I've taken percocet 5/325 many times before. I know that the 5 stands for the oxycodone and the 325 stands for the acetomiphan. So can I assume that Oxycontin 10 is equal to 2 percocets? I ask because I have heard the dangers of taking oxycontin, and I do not want to risk my life taking it

As a drug counselor I can tell you that Oxycontin and Oxycodone are two very different drugs that work on different neurotransmitters. If you are taking them as prescribed by a doctor and do not have a history of drug misuse/abuse you should be fine taking them for a short period of time. Oxycontin 10 IS NOT equal to 2 Percocets. To get further information call your doctor or a pharmacist. Either would be more than happy to answer your questions. But, please take the medicine as prescribed to avoid complications later. Good Luck

All I know is that Percocet takes away my pain. It helped after having a baby and getting wisdom teeth pulled. Oxy kills the pain and makes you feel really funny in the head and that was the only thing that helped when I had a c section and tubal ligation done. If it is prescribed, take it exactly the way it is ordered and you shouldn't have any problems. It is for pain. Many people have massive amounts of pain each day and it's sad to see medications abused and getting a bad name from those who just want to get high.

Oxycontin is dangerous because teenagers and street addicts misuse this med....often crushing it and snorting it, much like with Ritalin. Oxycontin is good for chronic pains, such as with cancer. Percocet is good for acute pain, such as after surgery. All narcotics have side effects and dangers, which can be reviewed with your pharmacist. Please do speak with your physician and/or pharmacist before taking either of these meds.

Goodness! I don't know about all those numbers you were throwing out there in your question, but I wanted to say that ANY medication containing an Opiate is HIGHLY addictive. They gave me just twenty Oxycontin when I was passing a kidney stone, and after taking the bottle I went through withdrawl. I got soooo addicted in such a short amount of time (10 days).
Trust me, you WILL risk your life by taking it.

Don't assume with narcotics. Oxycontin has a different chemical makeup than Oxycodone. If you have any questions, I would ask a pharmacist or a doctor/NP.
