Sure, it's true. Pets do pick up behaviors just by learning from us. Watch a puppy around older dogs, same thing happens. And they pick up personality traits the same way, both using us as examples of how to behave and by trying to fit into the pack — the slots available have to deal with our dominant traits so they are "more so" or complementary (the opposite of "more so") vis-a-vis our traits.

However, another effect is present as well. We tend to notice these similarities (it's flattering!) especially when it's cute when a pet does something similar. But we don't notice all the differences so much. This dichotomy leads to thinking they act mostly like us, it leads to thinking your son wants to be a policeman just like you are, it leads to thinking there's no such thing as coincidence. Just have to keep on our mental toes.

But yeah, they absolutely imitate our behaviors and traits. They work so well for us, why wouldn't they? Lol, fighting all the time must be fun for you guys and your brother must benefit from never shutting up and you sleep a lot which, at least part of the time, lets you avoid all that, right? Who better to imitate? One day your children will have the same opportunities...

Yes its so true. Maybe not so much cats but my dogs do for sure.
I have a Portuguese Water Dog and a Chihuahua which are known for being hyper and kinda nippy but they are totaly laid back. Maybe it has to do with how your train them, im not sure. Becuase my mom's friend is super neurotic and like edgy and so was her dog it bit another dog and she had to put it down. It seems to be the case but i don't know the science behind it.

I am not sure if it is true but I have a dog and I am always told that if I was an animal I would be her. They say she acts just like me. I think it is strange.

Yes in general it is true.

Working at animal control I found behind every difficult dog I had to deal with was even a bigger jerk holding the leash. When they bothered to use one. This crossed all races and financial backgrounds.

I don't know for sure. but think that animals tend to act like there owners. and I think with time there is a resemblance too. not a distinct resemblance but things like posture, body movements, and so on.

I think so my dog used to do trick and obey and all that. Now she is a spoiled brat like me she has to have her way.
