is it too late to develop common sense now at 18?
i grew up with a maid and a driver for fifteen years. finally, we stopped having them. then i realized how much i lack. now, im way better almost 3 years later..but sometimes i still find myself deficient...one time, i took the e train so i can get the A train at port authority. it was my first time to be at that station. But i recalled there was the A train at that station, but still i took the E train! ive been more responsible but im afraid its been just out of routine, but not really developed common sense...( i get good grades at school tho and admired by some but im not as smart as i seem to them..sigh) ...can i still improve? if i expose myself to more 'practical experiences', can i still gain common sense?

you'll be ok. everyone confuses the trains once in awhile. you have plenty of time to figure that all out.

Greetings. Common sense is knowing what to do at moments people experience every day. In other words, common sense differs from person to person.
Anyway, it is never too late to get more common sense. Practical experiences may help, but do whatever you think will help you. We need more people like you, actually trying to go out and become more familiar with the world. Good work, just keep on going.

I think that you can improve as you experience life, but it is too late to have strong, solid foundation of common sense. I know exactly how you feel. My parents treated me like a baby my entire life. They did everything for me, including thinking and resolving basic issues. I can really see it now at the age of 23. I stayed with someone for a while and he was astonished about the things I didn't know. It effects your whole life when you are used to having someone think for you. I'm grateful to have such wonderful parents, but I don't think that I will baby my children

You're problem is not common sense. You lack the experiences most of us take for granted. Just keep doing things for yourself. And with more experience the easier you will find these situations.

It's not too late. I'm 50 and I'm still working on developing common sense. Hang in there.

yes, you can. But you're going to feel stupid alot in the next 5 years or so as you do different experiences either for the first time, or with new purpose, just remember to look at everything with 2 or more angles, and choose the best one.

Common sense is a catch phrase for being better educated than you're given credit for. Hang in there.

you will get better as you learn to do for yourself, when something doesn't work try figuring out another way to do it with out having someone do it for you, watch others and listen to how they do things. don't be afraid to ask someone Else how to do something, or an easier way to do something, there is no such thing as a stupid question to someone who is sincere about learning. but be care full some people will see your inexperience as an invitation to pray on you. good luck and keep smiling, that always helps!
