I read this book called "seat of the soul" and put a lot of real prospectives in my life. It talks alot about "our" souls and the potential of true happiness. Heres a little break down of it... Your soul was meant to grow and bloom beyond mere happiness but cannot do so without the love of its "soul mate". Another soul that completes it.
And its true, you must have felt it before. From a child or a lover or even a friend. Theres not just one soul mate for everyone - you can have as many as your soul can handle. I keeps growing.
This book helped me to see that life is really a gift and that we should look for more reasons to be happy and thankful. Its pointless to get mad over all the little things in life and it very true.
When you realize this you will be a much happier person.
Good luck to you

I have that the Bible is the best book to help you with whatever situation you are dealing with even depression. The Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Philippians just to start and encourage you. If you can make time for it, read the entire bible and then meditate on how it parallels to your situation. Reading a few pages each day for 15 min. you can read the entire Bible in a year. Don't forget the power of prayer.

There are several books that I have read that have helped me understand self-mutilation better. (I used to do it and it was interesting to see it from the prespective from someone who doesn't but still didn't call it a "fad" or "sick")
But overall I think the books that helped me the most are the ones written by Chris Crutcher. He's a really good author and writes about teenagers who are struggling with life. They're realistic and I could identify with the characters in one way or another.

The one which comes to my mind immediately is Julia Cameron ' The Artist ' way.
It helped me greatly because even if you are not an artist it helps you to be more creative about your life in every aspects...
It is a self-help book and she is funny witty and I read it not so long ago, just for fun but I still practise some of her "counsels"...
I wish you the best and really try it especially if you are like me wanting to get out of that black mood by your own power...
Then Tai chi...

The "Conversations With God" series by Neale Donald Walsch, hands down. They changed my life. Radically.
You might also try "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz.
