I thought that the name was spelt Saddam?
Probably millions of parents chose that name, never thinking that one guy with that name would cause such grief to so many.
Is it fair to get it wrong here & now? And if the sentence is fair, how is this hanging different to so many other hangings? I wouldn't care to watch those either. I hope it's a quick ending, because I'm sure he values his life as much as you value your own and that of those you love. I don't know how you make a hanging quick & effective.
Why would anyone care to watch? I do think he should be put down, but it won't bring any of his victims back to life - nor will it stop others aspiring to such power. I hope I can trust his executioners to make sure he, and no one else, dies, and fast.
I wasn't around when he ordered the deaths of others, so I couldn't pick him out from a line-up. I'm not qualified to view the process. I hope that they choose someone who's done this hundreds of times already and is competent to end it all. I trust them to do that. But radio news reporting will be enough for me.
I don't need to watch.

Apparently not - sky news and Reuters are reporting he was hung about 6-7 minutes ago about 6am Baghdad time, while the curfew was in place and before sunrise in a secret location. Wonder how long before somebody puts a tape on line ...

I sincerely hope not. The violence in Iraq and surrounding countries will worsen as the event draw near. If the sentence is sensationalized by the US media for ratings, international opinion of this country will continue to deteriorate and further weaken our position.

There was some talk about that yesterday from Iraq reorted by the media, but nothing further on it today. Even if it was on TV, I won't be watching it.

I highly doubt it. Imagine how much violence it would incite. Although I guess it's possible, there's plenty of other disturbing things on tv these days.

If we watch that it will only mean we have as little regard for life as he did.
