YOu best bet is to hit the Extra casters.

Start with Central Casting, I think they're in Burbank now. They used to want a color wallet size picture. There may be a nomial fee (usually $25 to $50) to place you on the list.

You need to get into the underground and find out who is doing Extra casting these days.

It used to be places like Starr Casting

YOu need reliable transportation and a disposable day job. Something like waitress where you can swap hours and days.

YOu have to be ON SET on time or sooner and stay til the shoot is called.

The beauty is that often means overtime pay. So you go up from $40 to $120 for the day. More if you eat smoke or get bloodied.

You can expect to work one or two or three days the first month and if you work out well it is possible to work 4 - 5 days a week and make $20K a year.

Then wait for an opportunity to get a bump up to SAG eligablity.

Remember, however, that SAG card will cost you about $1,500 IN CASH or CERTIFIED CHECK, one payment.

After that you CAN'T WORK NON-UNION EXTRA JOBS ANYMORE

A friend of mine went from $20K a year non-union to next to nothnig a year SAG.

They generally won't even let you read unless you are SAG eligible or they are doing total open casting.

There are a number of ways to keep abreast of audition info in L.A. Log onto backstage.com, for starters. Some of their audition notices are available to subscribers only (it costs about $10/month), but you can get some of them free of charge.

And no, you don't need to be submitted by an agent to attend all auditions; some, but not all.

Ok first thing is TRAINING !! Agents managers and casting directors won't even take one look at your headshot and resume without training .
You don't need an agent but it can help alot. All agents do is submit you for roles for casting directors. Now before you audition you need
1.Headshot (black and white it shows your more professional)
2.Resume listing hobbies,experience,sizes in clothes,and personnal info

It's a GREAT TIME TO START AUDITIONING NOW ! ITs pilot season (auditions and castings for upcomming shows for summer and fall)
IT takes a while to get into this buisness it took me 8 months to get an agent and manager and book a Skechers commercial. NEVER GIVE UP !!

To start log onto www.proscout.com (it will get you to start auditioning)
