Either you are having bad luck or a bad internet connection. You will see bars near the bottom left corner of lime wire showing you level of connection.

You can disable your anti virus program for a few minutes sometimes Norton blocks my lime wire. Once lime wire gets going again you can enable Norton or whatever anti virus you may have. There could be other problems too maybe the files you are trying to get just have bad resource.

Sometimes the sources of the downloads fail. Try right clicking on the song and retry downloading the file again. If that fails to work, you will need to find a different file of the same song.

1.the person you are downloading it from may have cut you off, my friends do it to me all the time
2. When you are searching, click on the link thaat has the most available sources, the one with the biggest number to the left of it.
3. It could possibly be your firewall

make sure you have an internet connection by checking the bars in the lower left corner of the screen. they more you have that are green, the better. if none are green, you may need to disable your firewall. if all are green, do a test run by clicking on a song that has a high number, meaning more users have the same file.(the "number" quanity will be second from the left as the songs are listed)

The only answer i have, is when the list of of whatevr you searched for comes up, what ever the top results with numbers next to them, usually lets you get a complete download through.

Some of the people here already answer the question, but also try to go for songs that many users have that way you will get the song quicker. Also share your stuff too, the more you share the merrier
