I am thinking about having a home birth because I have no money, I never liked the hospitals, I don't trust doctors, I feel safe in my own home and I don't want my baby taken from me when I am in the hospital. I don't want to have pain killers because it's not natural. I was hoping someone could shed some light on if home birth could be safer than hospital.

Advantages on home birth: Saves money. You can be comfortable. If your tradition permits that you should bury the placenta, you can do so.

Disadvantages on home birth: You will lack the skilled nursing staff. Anything can happen during a child birth like cord prolapse, bleeding or hemorrhage, nuchal cord (umbilical cord wraps around the baby's neck). If your not pushing effectively you may compromise the over all well-being of the baby. In the hospital they have emergency equipments, fetal monitorings, maternal monitoring devices. Nurses can monitor both you and your baby while you can concentrate on giving birth.

--I was born at home. I had a nuchal cord (umbilical cord wrapped around my neck). Was thankful though that my mother had a friend on midwifery, who is now my godmother. But it would have been better if it was done at the hospital. Nowadays, hospitals have a home-like environment inside so you can feel at home. I am the third child by the way.

Under the right circumstances, a home birth can be safe, but I would not say that it is safer than a hospital.

For a home birth to be safe, you need to make a lot of plans in advance. You need to have an experienced person, such as a midwife, there.

A home birth is absolutely NOT the way to go if you have any high risk factors at all.

You need to be under a doctor's care during your pregnancy. Find a doctor who will support your decision for a home birth and then let him tell you if you will be better off in a hospital --based on how your pregnancy is going.

This is not something you should do without an experienced person with you during the birth.

Well, I prefer hospital birth because if the baby needs immediate medical care upon birth, then there is a staff of pediatricians and pediatric surgeons right on hand to help the baby.

As long as you are healthy there is nothing wrong with a home birth. You still need someone such as a midwife to help you with the birth. I'm hoping you have been getting good prenatal care somewhere.
Bottom line your body, your baby..........do what is right for you!!

No, it's not safer. If something critical happens to you or your baby, you could die on the way to the hospital. It's not clean, and if you have a still birth, would you want to stay there?

Consult a pediatrician and the best way is to reach out for the hospital.
Have great care.

first of all think about the risk of not having proper sterlize equiptment then you will be putting you and the baby at risk, yes once your is comfortable you will feel safer their.now you need to pray and ask (GOD) to cover you and that nothing bad will happen at the hospitol.
