Zeppelin is a company name, but dirigibles had been used for some time before the war. An Italian airship was the first used in the war. In addition to the rigid airframe of the dirigible balloon, non-rigid balloons were also used. The British-designed A-limp balloon did not become popular, but the B-limp, without the dash, is well known.
