The older bills have 'United States Note' on them and the current bills have 'Federal Reserve Note' on them. Does this mean it is only good for a currency collection? I am not from the US so I don't know the answer.

The bill is old and it is authentic. It is currency you can use anywhere in the US or exchange. It is not (nor is any other US currency) ever outdated or invalid for use.
The particular bill you have is really not valuable unless it was completely crisp and uncirculated (brand new) and even then it's practical value isn't worth much more the the $2.00 note.
Silver and gold certificates from the early to mid-20th century have the most value.

people can still get 2 dollar bills at the bank if you request them. they still work at currency but its isn't a thing that most people have or even use

You can spend it or keep it for your collection but if you try to sell it, you will not get much for it; probably only worth about $4 unless it is in pristine condition.
