We moved to a house with a very dark, depressing entryway; looks like a cave. We want color, but nothing too pale or bright, but warm and inviting.
Deffinately not dark, like the chocolate one we have now.
Any suggestions? Oh! And the space is small and narrow.
Thanks!

you could always paint just one wall with a dramatic color, and then leave the other walls neutral. Make that your "focal wall" that you can hang paintings or photographs on. It distracts the eye from the fact that the hallway is small, and leads the eye down the hallway to the rest of the house, almost like an arrow. If you paint all the walls the same color, the eye has nothing to focus on.. and its distracting.

I'd go for a light color such as 'Potato chip' (a yellow) with a white or off white ceiling. Being a small and narrow space a light color would be the go as the light color will make the room look bigger. Your floor treatment will affect the final look too, as well as furnishings and your lighting.

I even have the same hallway and that i chosen a poultry wallpaper. it particularly is small birds and a few easy hues in it. i think of a gloomy color would in basic terms make it look smaller--for some reason the wallpaper did no longer and anybody that is composed of my abode feedback on how they like it. stable success!

everyone seems to be going with this reddish-maroon color lately, which I think looks awful. Maybe a lighter shade of sky blue would be good. Its hard to tell without actually seeing it though

a dark navy color is nice... avoid oranges and whites if you want a "warm" feeling house
