I know though they both had great lyrical skills that their far from the best, i admit it. However when it came to other things, they were unmatched. Well i'll tell you, you'd be very hard pressed to find an MC who can compete with BIGs completely killer flow and amazing story telling ability with pratically movie like rhymes. With the same going for Tupac's amazingly powerful and heartfelt lyrics and extremely passionate delivery. So i don't think their purely rated on the strength of their lyrical skills, it was undenieable that they had unbelieveable skills in other things in hip hop. So no i don't think their overrated at all, they definitely deserve to be ranked amongst the greats.

I agree with you. They aren't overrated. Both were able to tell stories, freestyle, and battle with flavor and excellent delivery. Biggie even made some poor guy cry in a battle in footage before he blew up. And you can totally feel the aggression in Pac's "Hit em Up." Rappers still bite them till today... Jay-Z included. Too many wack rappers out right now who can't flow. Their lyrics sound like nursury rhymes and all they talk about are things they bought with the loaned money from their record labels. Hip Hop evolved into something mainstream and watered down. There are skilled rappers out today, but most of them don't get paid because they don't sell out. Great rappers can get mass appeal wthout selling out. It will be a while till we see a new rapper with the talent and cultural impact as Biggie and Pac. That's why they aren't overrated.

I don't think they are overrated. Especially among the trash thats called hip hop today there is no comparison. I do however think that they should be among the greats Not called the greatest or the best MC because there were lyricists out before them like Rakim and others that paved the way for them. Just my opinion.

Biggie was over-rated for sure! Imagine if a girl looked like Biggie! She'd be a social outcast, yet this guy had a gazillion women.

percentno yet Biggie is overated. U could be 28 or older. if so, I admire your opinion. Im 23 & percentis the GOAT to me. No different rapper yet Em has bought greater records than %. Numbers dont lie. i like Rakim, & Mos DEf & elementary are 2 of the main underrated rappers. Nas & Jayz isnt in my suitable 5.

"Ranked among the greats" and "overrated" are very different-perhaps they are both to some degree. The media frenzy could overrate anyone!.Just know that they are exceptional in their chosen fields and each have their strengths. So relax,enjoy and listen to your heart's content!

Hell yes they were over rated. There are way more talented people out there who you will never hear from due to nothing more than bad timing. Every kid in high school has a story to tell thats just as emotional and heartfelt as anything those guys wrote. They were just lucky, nothing else.
