go to www.trendmicro.com free scan need to scan for both viruses, when finished go back then click on free spyware scan. Go to www.download.com : free ad-adware & spywaredoctor. If you have a firewall that could be preventing the install you have to change settings to allow, also if it says need active X, you need to click the yellow bar (right click to allow). Also to run in the back ground try spywareblaster & free firewall zonealarm all found at www.download.com type program name in search. You need to ensure when trying the freebies you click on the free options only, read carefully. I also use www.free-av.com (free virus) it also has a window that pops up when updating it just for information purposes you just click ok, and continue, a lot have that, just ignore it & click ok to continue with free versions. Scanning can take upto an hour or more.

The real spybot is free 100%. You have a fake or rip of verision that will steal your money or credit card info. This is the real product and site http://spybot.com/en/index.html if you really have that many infections you might want to back up your stuff and reinstall windows. Your computer ill never be 100% ok after that much crap.

You're definitely NOT using Spybot if it's asking you to pay! Spybot is free -- always has been and probably always will be. He does ask for donations -- I've sent him several -- but he does NOT charge for the software. Ditto for AdAware Personal Edition.

you can manually remove these nasties by looking at the "log" spyware dr provides and one-by-one going through and deleting those buggars. ad aware will remove them for free but that program does not see all of them. you really need to run both, or even more, to get rid of all that junk.
it might say you have 1700 infections but in reality you can delete one file in the regestry and remove many all at once. it's fun. spend an evening up close and personal with your PC

The final guy that responded with all the links did an surprising activity of answering this question and gets the suited answer award. yet i did decide directly to double what he stated in a single section. spyware Docter Starter kit is unfastened and is the comparable simply by fact the priced one exept the starter kit would not have actual time secure practices in all areas. spyware docter is honestly the suited and easiest to apply of all the spyware utility courses. unfastened or no longer...decide on spyware docter

They are both free programs. Are you going to the official vendors websites?
