brickfish.com seems to have a nice community of people (still mixed ages) ... of course, still be careful, people can easily pretend to be something other than who they really are.

Yes, I suggest Facebook, its similar to myspace, but much more private and organized. You must know someone to add them to your friends. Their are less ads on Facebook as well. I also suggest Yahoo 360. It is a lot more secure as well.
I hope this helps. If you have myspace i suggest you make your profile private or even delete it b/c its dangerous these days.
