one, two Freddie's comin for you
three, four better lock the door
five, six grab a crucifix
seven, eight better stay up late
nine, ten never sleep again...
Sounds to me as if someone has been watching a bit too many Freddie Kruger movies

I can see why he would be scared. Just tell him to think of it as basic needs. If he doesn't get sleep, then something might happen. The more sleep he gets, the better he'll feel during the day. Its like refueling.
If needed, explain to him death isn't a scary thing. Its going to a better place.

what have u been letting him watch that he would be feeling like this. Stop with the scary stuff first off then work on getting him to sleep. Tell him sleep is like fuel for a car needs it to run the next day. Hope that works good luck.

First you need to be sure he's serious, and not just saying that so you won't make him go to bed.
If he is being serious reassure him that while yes they are sort of the same they are very different. Make sure he understands that he has to sleep and that you are there if he needs to talk.

This is pretty funny...since it's Christmas vacation, tell him that he doesn't have to sleep if he doesn't want to. He will eventually figure out that he needs to sleep even if he doesn't like it.

Tell him when your dead your brain stops, but when you sleep its still working, giving you dreams, making his heart beat and lungs breathe. If that doesnt work, you could scare him and tell him about people who have died from sleep deprivation.

Tell him that when you are alseep your brain is always working and helping you have important dreams that can be fun to remember.. Then get him a notebook and when he wakes up ask him to write down what his dreams are and go over them with him.

It's not what you tell him, you just need to get him some help, sometimes counseling is covered on insurance.
