What has changed so much in the last 10 years that we have forgotten how to give sympathy, compassion and understanding. People used to smile and say hi to someone when we met them in the street. People used to help our neighbors and never ask anything in return. We no longer respect our elderly. We used to feel thankfulness when something good happened now we think we just deserve it!

Please don't say the "Government or Religion". These things have changed inside us as human beings, and I am having a very hard time understanding.

I was on Congress Ave. election night of 2000. As Big Gay Al retorted that our beloved Governor did not need to get "Snippy" about him retracting his concession after giving up(And Screwing up the Electoral process in Floriduh which was still going on at the time in the western counties that were predominately Republican), I witnessed the true insidious nature of the Socialist movement at it's worse! To win at any cost and to screw up the winning system and the government if defeated.
As the threats about how bad the demobrats were going to make the next 4 years came to reality, I feel this Nation suffered it's worst blow since it's creation.
The very thought that the American people would support and condone divisive Un-American and purely Partisan BS would have been vehemently denied by me at the time! As I look at what has happened over the last 6 years of bogus pollitical and Media Spin-jobs and the division the sorry Democratic Socialist Party has caused and worse yet, the reward they have been given-It makes me wish I could afford to move to an intellegent and rational Country like Australia!

Sorry but it is the government, that is, the whole of the people. When we gave up our rights to make decisions for ourselves and turned into a society that will sue or call the cops rather than talk to the offender we gave up our will of purpose.

I had a very nicely dressed woman with a child of about 8 stop in my line of site the other day at the supermarket while I was trying to make a decision on what brand of corn my wife usually bought. I stood there for a moment thinking that she would grab something and move on but she didn't. Instead she popped open her cell phone to call for directions on what to get, leaving me standing there staring that the back of her head. I very politely interrupted her phone call and told her that she was being rude. She looked at me like I had two heads, the very idea that somebody was calling her on her impolite behavior. She took off like a shot, not because she was frightened but because she could not face being called on it.

It has been getting progressively worse since the 60's. I have no suggestions. We have too many laws, not enough community sentiment and a feeling of paranoia. Even on something like this site, somebody writes something that another person doesn't agree with and they go off on them. Accusing them of being a racist, sexist, anti-this, anti-that. Go figure.

It's crazy how rude people are getting. Road rage is all the "norm", kids disrespecting parents...etc...etc. I come from a place that used to be known for its hospitality and kind people. Now I just don't know...it seems to have deteriorated in the last 10 - 12 years. People turn away rather than say "Hi". People are also "cliquish" nowadays. If you don't belong to their "kind" they don't want you. What ever happened to having more than 1 friend???? I also believe that people are scared to be friends. It seems like you open the newspaper each day and read about the murders and suicides in our country. Its almost like people aren't connecting on a deeper level.
