How old is your daughter? Whether she is or is planning on becoming sexually active or not, this gives you an opportunity to talk to your daughter about sex, sexuality and all that good stuff.
It may be simply that she and her friends are talking about sexuality. The shaving may be an idea that she picked up from conversations with other girls.
If nothing else it indicates that your daughter is thinking about her vagina, which is a big sign. You probably don't need to go off the deep end with worry, but it should spur the conversation.

You can be sexually active and not shave your nether regions. If you have a daughter, then one of your worries will always be if and when she becomes sexually active. Fashion and fad is the rule when it comes to tattoos and shaving. If you are talking swimsuits etc, then it is not uncommon to shave. If you are wondering if you should have that special talk with her, then you are probably a few years late. Bring up the topic and make sure she is smart enough to use protection if she is sexually active. You think she is too young, but not using protection against STD's and pregnancy would make matters even worse. My guess is that she can talk more openly about the subject than you can.

Okay I'm not sure how you know this first of all.
No it does not necessarily mean she is sexually active. Maybe she is more comfortable with out the hair, she could have just been curious, look better in a bathing suit. There's a lot of reasons. Me personally - yes it was because I was having sex. But that's not the only reason women shave.

If your son had long hair would you suspect him of smoking pot?
Whether she is a smoothie or not is not a reflection of sexual activity. My wife says it feels cleaner and better that way. Maybe it is a locker room fad. There are many reasons for shaving or not shaving.....to assume it is sexual is speculation, because you can have sex with or without hair down there.
As her father, you must love her, accept her, instill confidence in her, be as close as you can be with her during these teenage years....because THAT is what makes the big difference in the quality of the man she chooses and her ability to say "no, I want to wait".

I'm 17, shave, and definitely not sexually active.
That just goes to show you that most people answering are wrong.
As a teen, I don't assume she's shaving to be sexually active. And, I can probably guarantee that 90% of my friends shave or wax, and not for that reason. Honestly the hair can be a pain.

Yes and No. Many girls now between 12 and 15 start shaving not only their vulva's, but also their arms, stomachs, toes, etc. It's a "thing" that is popular now when young girls talk to each other. But frankly... I am nervous for any young post-pubescent girl about sexual activity. But the shaving isn't the indicator. Sorry for the double talk, but I speak from experience as a dad, and step dad.

I'm only 20 years old, and I also started shaving mine when I was 13, but I was NOT having sex. Honestly, now that I'm married, I slack off on it and I am having sex! The reason I did was mainly because most bathing suits now don't cover all pubic hair, and some will show, which is very embarrassing, especially to a teenage girl. Another reason was because all my friends were doing it. Remember when you wanted to start shaving your legs? I honestly wouldn't be worried, but if you are, I would really have appreciated having a mother who was willing and open to talk to me about sex.

You could worry or you could just talk to her about sex. Shaving your vagina does not necessarily signal that you are having sex. She could have read about doing this in a magazine, then tried it, who knows. It would be better for you to talk to your daughter about sex than just speculate on her activities based on her personal hygiene habits she is developing.

relax sweetheart..... maybe she is just trying to remein clean ... and since you've brought this up ... worrying bout your daughter becoming sexually active is not a matter of deep concern. But if you must do something about ti ... talk to your daughter about safe sex and stuff like that ( u probably know better) .

it does not mean she is becoming sexually active. Some women do it because having long pubic hair is itchy and bothersome. Shaving or trimming it can help solve that problem. I think you should just ask her if she is becoming sexually active. Be open and honest with her and try not to be judgmental. She will be grateful that you asked about her sex life and didn't just assume things.....believe me.
