We take down all Christmas decorations including the tree on December 28th. We feel that the anticipation of Christmas gives more of a feeling towards Chridstmas then having all the tinsel around you while the Boxing Day sales are in full gear. Let's face it Christmas is over.

Take them down on January 6th, which is the feast of the Epiphany, also known as "Little Christmas" in some cultures. That's the 12th day of Christmas.

I took mine down today. I personally think it's best to have them down before Jan. 1st to start the New Year fresh. Otherwise it seems tacky. Like some of the stores had Christmas decorations up before Halloween. That's ridiculous!

I start with putting all the knick knacks away the day after and yesterday I took down the tree but keep the "winter" decor out throughout the rest of winter.

My hubby always says I need to keep them up until New Years Day because it brings good luck. You will apparently have a year of bad luck if you take them down earlier. BUT, I still take mine down about the 28th or 29th so I can get my house back in order before its time to return to work.

I wait till the day after new years, there is no exact date when the three kings arrived only that it was around winter solstice.

was told often as a child leaving Christmas decorations up into new year would carry over the bad from old year so figure why take chances, start the new year with clean slate.
