france has ugly cars, a hideous language, terrible food(french eat snails and frogs legs),a defeatest history, indeed a history of surrenders and failures, but most of all their attitude and character sucks. people should know that not only alot of americans hate france but most europeans do as well.for example italy owns france in every category, cars, food, history, art and of course football(soccer) .plus france has 5 million arabs who will burn france down as proved in the 2005 riots

A lot of Americans do not hate France. That is an ignorant thing to say....do you know most Americans?

Have you ever been to France? I bet you haven't. It's is really a lovely country with lovely people. Sure, they have their idiots just like every other country in the world does.

By the way, when I went to France I didn't see one person eating frog legs or snails....however, in the southern US (where I live), I see people eating frog legs all the time. Isn't that ironic?

I was really happy with the answers people were giving until I read kl55000's response and was kind of disappointed. This person who asked the question is ignorant and probably American. But it is also wrong of French people to think of all Americans this way. kl55000, you just turned what he said around, which is no better, right?

I think France is a beautiful country with a rich culture. More than 28% of English words are French words (Oxford Dictionary). French cooking has had a huge impact on American cooking (gourmet and sommelier are even French words) and many of the best cooks in America often go to French culinary schools. I think you need to be more open minded about what they eat ("snails and frog legs") because Americans eat stranger things, especially because there are many ethnicities in America. As for French history, Napoleon had many victories, they helped us in WWII, not to mention helped America gain independence from Britian. French also has great art and literature!

As for the French hating Americans, I think Europeans may not be as well informed as you may think about us supporting the Bush administration. Yes, president Bush was indeed reelected as president. But America does not choose its presidents through a true democracy. He did not win the popular vote and was chosen by the electoral college which includes men who are friends with his father. He also used fear to persuade Americans to reelect him so he could "fix" the situation. Our government is not the best system, and there are many flaws. A lot of people feel the Patriot Act is unconstitutional and has taken many freedoms away and MANY Americans disapprove of or hate Mr. Bush and his reign.

Not all French people eat frog legs and snails and drink wine all day and don't shower. (And not all Americans are fat, lazy, stupid and eat at McDonalds.) I suggest you go to France and meet French people before you make stupid, ignorant remarks like this.

BUT ... There are many great Americans and Frenchmen/Frenchwomen and I don't think you should measure someone by the quality of their government or what you think of their country but rather by what their personality is like.

et donc ... peut-être il est juste un con. (:

I'm proud to be French. I used to live in the US, I've been 10 times to the UK and though I don't hate the people there, I'm aware of the luck I have to live in such a beautiful country.
I know my country has been knowing troubles for a few years (riots, unemployment, foreign policy,...) but when I think of G. Bush reelected for example I think there's worse than in France.

Just for you information, I've counted 8 words from French origins (English is made of many French words). So you speak a bit French in a sense, no matter what you want :-)

A few complements to the above answers

Ugly cars:
Renault-Nissan is the 4rth Global car maker and is worth more than GM and Ford combined. Probably because their production is ugly?
http://superfrenchie.com/?p=509
In the pas ten years, four French cars (3 Renault, 1 Peugeot) were elected european car of the year
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Car_of_the_Year
As for Italy, Fiat is the 12th global 12th car make in terms of number of vehicles produced, under both the Renault and Peugeot groups. France produces 3 million vehicles a year, Italy 900 000.

Terrible food:
The average life expectancy in France is 2 years more than in the US. Maybe this is partly due to the 'terrible' French diet that contains far less junk than the US one?

Surrenders:
As a longtime european superpower, France has known both victories and defeats in its history.

The above list only starts at the 100 years war. Former battles are not depicted but were equally important: the Franks vs the arabs or the huns, of Charlemagne, of the early Capetian kings and of course the Crusades.
Here is a list of american 'victories' as a reminder:

Oh and one last thing: between one and two thirds of the words used in English are of French origin

Not bad for a worthless country, uh?

Don't be so down on France and the French. They had Napoleon, helped us (the U.S. of A) during our revolution from the Brits. They make great pastries, wines and cheeses. I like their food and don't knock escargot(fried snails dipped in garlic butter) and frog's legs(taste just like chicken) until you've tried them. How about the French bikini, which lead to a bikini wax, thong underwear and French kisses. The world war one song that had the lyrics "they f#ck with their face and fight with feet inky dinky par Le vu". The list goes on and on. Anyone can nitpic anyone at anytime. In the words of Rodney King "Can't we all just get along"
Happy New Year
peace out

I always enjoy questions like this because it just proves how stupid people can be.

Judging from your name unclesam I guess you are American. So for your France is a worthless country. But can you tell me why your is better. We FRENCH have a few thousands years of history and your country how many ? Less than 3 hundreds. Whoooo that's quite a lot for a baby born.

Ugly cars ? much better than Pick-up.
Hideous language : I guess you've never heard French
Terrible food : frogs and snails are delicious and much better than Big-Mac or Hot Dogs. we like to eat real food and not junk food. Sorry for that.
Defeated history : just like a lot of countries

And I really laugh when you said that Italy owns in every category :
cars : in F1, I guess Renault made Ferrari look like a fool team for now 2 years. Not bad for a France. In Rally car races, Sébastien Loeb and his French Citroen are the best for 2 years also. Where are the Italiens or Americans?
Food : for Italy pasta and pizza and for France it would be too long to tell all the delicious food we have.
History : France allies / Italy with the Nazis. I know it is not anymore ( also with Berlusconi I have doubts ) but I prefer France being in the right side than the evil side of the force.
Art : I say we are equal. Lots of good artist on both sides
Soccer : because of one match Italians are superiour. They won at the penalties and 2 months later : France 3 - Italy 1. Oh excuse me for being better.
5 millions arabs : where is the problem with that ? I don't see any. And the fact that you said they would burn France means that you looked too much at CNN or CBS. They didn't know what they were talking about. It was the French youth so white / black / arabs in the streets during the riots and not only the arabs.

To conclude before saying fake things you should try to get the right infomartion before making a fool of yourself.

The French are tougher on terrorists of late than the British. The article linked here states that the French are seeking to preserve their culture, whereas the British seem to have lost interest in theirs. (Either way, the immigration policies of both countries is downright stupid. Both have a fifth column that will bring down both countries.)

Whoa dude, who pulled your chain? I'm sure, if you try, you can think of some redeeming quality. How about Pasteurization or Cognac or Champagne. Don't sink to the level of those Negative Nells. Look on the bright side. You never have to go there if you don't want to!

there's a company in Sheffield (Swan-Morton) that manufacturers surgical contraptions from extreme high quality Sheffield metallic - of course no longer affordable sufficient. Makes a mockery of the "purchase British" and "look after British jobs" campaigns of modern-day years does not it. The NHS looks to have forgotten the previous premise of "you get what you pay for". ideas you, whilst your paying an "performance" bureaucrat a three parent earnings plus gold plated pension, high quality of care and kit takes 2d place.
