Dude, everyone hates it, but in certain shows-i'm thinking of Irish and Brit comedies/sitcoms - there is a severe vacuum when it isn't there! Imagine looking at any one of those shows that you can name without the prompts-they're not designed or sophisticated enough to be enjoyed at black comedy or subtle in that way. I remember seeing a Blackadder special-Back and Forth I think it was-for the millenium, and it was a good show, but something felt really cold about it until i realised that the canned laughter was missing telling me what to find funny and when! I am not an idiot, but I just KNOW that things are funnier to me and others when a few people are laughing as well, as long as we suspend our own disbelief that is a fictional audience! Man am I philosophical or what at this hour?! Time to switch to decaf i reckons! (Cue laughter :)!

The laugh track on Planets Funniest Animals drives me daft! There is one laugh interjected in the track that is so annoying I just need to change the channel. Too bad because I really like the show.

It is just me or every now and then can you hear someone on those fake audience laugh tracks say "Go Girl"? I Think it only happens on the black shows thought.

Canned laughter has always been particularly obnoxious to me. It's fake, and loud and inappropriate, but shows use it when they don't film before a live audience.

I remember watching a thing about Growing Pains (I think it was this show anyway) a while ago and how they used to give prizes to people who laughed the loudest.

It is very annoying, and I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling like that - especially when the laughter comes at a scene that is not funny!
