It's a matter of preference, really. Yankee Candle Company offers a wide variety of scents in florals, fruits, baked goods, nature scents, and organics, etc.

If you are taking a "poll," you'll probably get as many answers as there are scents, for all of them are wonderful. If you are trying to decide for yourself, sniff until you find one that you can't resist.

You could also purchase some votives to help you make a decision.

I used to work there a few years ago. When I worked there the top selling ones depended on category but I'd say if you like baking smells, then chocolate chip cookie or vanilla. For floral scents, lilac blossoms or sheer gardenia and for fresh scents honeydew melon or clean cotton. For holiday fragrance I'd go with home for the holidays or sparkling cinnamon.
It's hard to pinpoint one exact fragrance since people like different things. My most favorite is Pineapple gardenia but a lot of my friends don't like that one. : )

Especially during winter, I love the candle Jack Frost. It also has an adorable image of Jack "the snowman" which changes year to year.
It smells of peppermint, and coolness!

I also think Macintosh apple is nice, and buttercream! Both nice to burn in the kitchen.

Butter Cream is my favorite. When it's burning it smells like you are baking a yellow cake in the oven. As a matter of fact i have have one burning right now. And it smells so delicious.
