I think that this question is a bit different than all the other ones. I just recently turned 16 years of age and I'm wanting to get a job somewhere (preferably not one that deals with food). I've applied at countless places, online and in person. However, I can never seem to get a call back from anyone! Has anyone run into this situation?

Go to the place of business and apply. Ask to see the manager in addition to applying and tell him/her you are serious about working and would like a chance to perform. If you really want to go nuts, ask them to consider giving you a chance and to just tell you in two weeks if they don't think it will work out. Stand apart, impress the person who really has the ability to hire.

You should also be calling them after you apply - it shows them that you really want the job. I applied at a restaurant and called them and we set up an interview - and I'm still working at the same place 3 1/2 years later.

ya, i have also. I turned in August and even before my parents nagged me about jobs. And i still can't get a year round job. Just try to do yardwork or become a referee or umpire. All of those can pay well and no taxes are taken from it. I ump and make 20 bucks for an hour and 45 minutes.

try retail stores or places in the mall. It's too bad you don't want to work in the food industry at this time as thats probably the easiest 1st job.

MySpace has a pretty good jobs page for teens since most of its members are teens. Check it out at:
