i own a repair shop, and i have drove both of these cars, and i have to say the mx-6 is the better car,of the two,,and performance wise, there's no comparison at all ,the mx-6 will run off and leave the prelude,as far as being a good car the mx-6 is a pretty good car,,they get a few rattles in them once in a while,,that's why they make Phillips screw drivers for though, tighten the screws up,and keep driving,,but the better car there's is the mx-6,good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.

First, Dodgeman, I love your advice... I use this forum to pass time at work. Usually I agree with your answers and I can tell you are a good mechanic.
Hmmm, Honda vs Mazda... Do you want to be a leader or a follower. I am going to cut and paste advice that I have given to other people about the mx6/626/Ford Probe. But ask yourself this question. Why are Honda owners so arrogant? True there are some pretty modified hondas out there but look at the huge aftermarket, that makes it easy. Goto www.mx6.com or www.probetalk.com and find people that actually MAKE their own parts, guys like mr speed that decided to just manufacture superchargers for the mx6/probe because there was little aftermarket.... That is what true car enthusiasts do and the way that muscle cars developed.
Pasted: Hi, the Mx-6 can be a good car... stay away from the 4 cylinder with the automatic transmission, as they were known for transmission problems. The v6 engine is difficult to work on simply due to lack of space. Be prepared to pay money on repairs because mechanics will NOT like to work on this vehicle. Check www.mx6.com or www.probetalk.com to find out more info about these cars. The v6 can be made into a fast car for about 1500-2000$ for Japanese engine swap making 200 hp. Good luck. Honestly you will seldom have to work on the engine unless you are like me and have a need 4 speed. Thats why I sold my v6 and got the 89 2.2 Turbo 200hp, honda killer... I'd love to race a new SI in my beat up car that cost me 1000 bucks including upgraded turbo.
Get a honda prelude and get full coverage insurance because it is one of the most stolen vehicles in America. Better car? Well race a modified prelude and a modified mx6. The prelude Type H is fast but hard to find and cost 3x what an mx6 costs.

the prelude is one of the best handling front wheel drive out there. the prelude will cost a lot more than the mx6 for a simple reason: its a better car.

The MX6 is available with a 6-cylinder - depends on how romantic you are in this respect, but the sound of a 6 is always superior to a four-cylinder in my opinion.
