I am a college student and right now I am in a sales job but I am anticipating loosing that job at the end of the month. I have been unable to find any work at all, and I really need the money to pay for bills and school. I have been offered a job as a cocktail waitress at a "private, upscale, gentleman's club" it pays very well and they even give an allowance for clothing. All they say I have to do is dress provacatively, and flirt with guys. There is no stripping, touching or anything like that. Should I take it?

Why not? Just keep it low key and be sure you dont let yourself become sucked into the seemy side of it.

Absolutely no. You're working toward a goal by going to college. Although the job seems innocent, it could damage you down the line. You never know who you will run into or need later, and whether you like it or not, you will have damaged your reputation. It may not seem fair and it isn't but it is the way life works. On CSI, one of the female investigators used to be a stripper and now, since she had this education is soooo respected. Life doesn't work like that. Avoid the appearance of impropriety and go waitress in a restaurant or flip hamburgers until something else comes through for you.
These men in the gentlemen's club, where you are dressing like a tramp and then flirting for tips are not there to respect you. When you step out into the professional world, your reputation will follow you. How do you want to be seen?

The general rule is to observe the way the employees dress and take it one step higher. For example, if an office is business casual you would want to dress casual. If they're allowed to wear jeans, wear slacks or an appropriate-length skirt (mid-thigh or longer). If they're allowed to wear T-shirts, wear a nice blouse (not TOO tight, and DEFINITELY no cleavage! Low-cut is fine). Be professional with the way you present yourself. If this is a place that stresses the way you look (and it sounds like it is), makeup is always appropriate though you should try keeping a natural look (no funky colors). It's always a bad idea to wear perfume. You never know if the person interviewing you is allergic or what they consider "too much". Instead, use a scented body wash or deodorant if you want to have a perfumed scent. It'll be light enough that you don't offend anyone's nose.

I think if you really need money to survive, you shouldn't let pride or other peoples opinions interfere with your ability to eat. Beyond that I believe that it simply becomes a matter of how degrading do you feel the work is. After all in the end you are the only one that has to live with your decision. Even the most honest or respectable jobs are seen as degrading by some people. Also even when waitressing restaurants and bars it always helps to earn better tips if you are friendly or flirty. People like attention and tip better when they feel special.

Go ahead and take it. If you don't like it you can quit. Don't do anything that compromises your morals. If you feel uncomfortable quit. Otherwise you don't know until you try it. Could be it's not a big deal and can help you get through school.
As long as you don't do anything that compromises your morals and is something you can live with then everything is fine. Just be aware of where you want to draw the line.

No way! You shouldn't even consider it. You are an intelligent person who has more to offer than that. I'm sure it sounds good on the surface, but what will that do for your self-esteem in the long term not to mention the potential dangers. Why not use what you know - hobbies, others skills and start your own side business. I'm broke too, but my Angels are always guiding me. Talk to yours and ask them for help, then listen for the answers within you!

Become a barmaid because you keep all the tips.

Waitresses have to share their tips with bussers, hostesses and barmaids.

and if you dont desire to work at a strip club, try a sports bar.

Go for it. You'll make a hell of a lot of money and most clubs will keep the rougher crowd from any funny business.
