iPods are mp3 players. Over-rated mp3 players, I should say. iPods are very expensive, and you can get alternatives for MUCH cheaper. I got a 4gb Sandisk Sansa, it was $75 cheaper than its iPod counterpart, and it has more cool features like video and voice recording. I encourage you to do your research before you buy any kind of mp3 player. Look at reviews and compare everything. You don't want to spend so much money on something and then hate it.

iPod is more expensive, but they are all low $ items now.

Apple owns this business, not just the iPod, but the all important software management which ties the whole process of moving music etc. from CD's and the Internet into the iPod.

Like most people who buy an iPod, this was a new experience, but I am a reasonably experienced computer user. (working for IBM for 33 years kind of rubs off on you.)

Anyways I know enough to go with the most experienced and brand owner vendor.

I would have been really mad at myself if I had saved a few bucks and couldn't get the darn thing to work.
