You may want to try a biography on James Herriot. He was a British vet and author, and wrote a lot about the animals he cared for. His autobiographical works are 5 volumes long, but there are plenty of biographies out there as well, and for all reading levels. He was quite an interesting person, who turned his love for animals into wonderful stories for kids.
One such bio is:
James Herriot: The Life of a Country Vet
by Graham Lord
Hope you find what you are looking for!

Its not quite what you asked for, but if your daughter loves animals, maybe the following books would be of interest to her:
All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot
Cat Stories by James Herriot
My family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell
The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings
Herriot also wrote a biography of his father...who was also a veterinarian. I can't think of a single bio or autobiography that is related to animals...except for Dian Fossey, and her Gorillas in the Mist is packed with anger and images of humans and their cruelty to gorillas.
Hope this helps...

I recommend this book, which is good for young people and adults alike:
"Modoc: The True Story of the Greatest Elephant That Ever Lived by Ralph Helfer"
It's a wonderful true story and an adventure as well. It will broaden her/his view of the world and the possibilities in it and it will broaden her/his heart as well.
James Herriot stories are also absolutely wonderful and from true experience.
Knowing the title and the author, you should be able to order it from any book store.

I imagine you have already read "Black Beauty". It is a classic at any age. I have heard that "Blood Red Horse" by K.M. Grant is wonderful too. Also try "King Of The Wind" (Marguerite Henry) and "The Black Stallion" (Walter Farley) & "Saddle Club" (Bonnie Bryant) series of books. The "Saddle Club" is now a TV show as well: more here:

Enjoy your reading!

Animals typically have a hard time writing autobiographies.
