Because we are stupid and dumb or both. Everyday, in TV ads, on store shelfs, in print ads, you see about products that will do this and products that will do that and we all know that it will not, but we as americans still buy it. We are being lied to everyday and we still take it.......
Think about it. How many different type of tooth pastes are there on the selves at walmart. Now look at what in it. Basically they have the same stuff and same amount of stuff and yet the label on the products say different things.
I am sick and tired of being lied to..........sounds like a lawsuite waiting to happen...

We have become accustomed to it over the years. Every politician that has ever stood up and made a speach then changed his/her mind 20 minutes after the election. Every commercial that we see/hear on the TV. Nearly every radio address that is given. We are bombarded with lies all of the time. Why do you believe that we would expect anything else?
Have a great day!

My English professor once told our class that people will always vote for the man/woman that tells them great things about themselves (the voters). Consequently the candidate that urges the people to face and solve their problems is seen as traitor. I think he was absolutely right, but why? I think because the alternative to ingesting falsities is to face an ugly and painful truth. People tend to personalize their country’s politics. If the country’s government is guilty of a certain crime, then the individual feels they also carry that burden. They feel they are also guilty, and that their entire way of life is wrong. So they pretend, and become increasingly patriotic to protect themselves from their insecurities, the feeling that they themselves are traitors. In short, lying is the easy way out. We lie by letting others lie to us, so we only we lie to ourselves. These have been my observations as an American. I assume you are speaking of politics, if not, please just ignore my theory. I hope I was helpful.

I have been an American for 50 years. I have never heard that we like being lied to. Therefore the premis of your question is probably false.

It is human nature to like being told what we want to hear "no, those jeans don't make your behind look fat" and "thanks Grandma, that beet and prune salad was great".
That being said, NOT ALL like being lied to, as shown by your question, many people in fact do not like it.

well, the question is "why do you like to be lie to and manipulated"?....
anyone that would come to the conclusion that 300 million people like to be lie to and manipulated...than they themselves have definitely been manipulated and lie to reach such an outrageous conclusion ..

Sometimes the truth is unpalatable. It may deny some of their most treasured beliefs and myths.
