probably because 'grown ups' just don't understand the concept of a pointless online popularity contest for children who're desperate to make virtual friends as a substitute for 'real life'.

and to be fair, any site that is 'cool' for people under the age of 20 is a magnet for paedophiles - they're not so stupid that they don't know where the soft meat is online...

MySpace has a really bad reputation. It's been a major target due to the increasing number of pedophilia cases brought to light by shows such as "To Catch A Predator". Overall the site isn't that bad, but most parents aren't willing to risk the chance of their child becoming a victim.

information that you post on MySpace, that you think is gerneric, may be of great use to a predator. Predators will and have posed as young people to lure a conversation. Within this conversation, you may INADVERTANTLY give you information that may ALSO be useful.

Over several weeks or even months of "earning your trust", they can and HAVE lured young people to meet up with them.........Raped and then murdered.

Do you not believe me? go to google and put in MYSPACE MURDERS and READ ALL ABOUT IT.

Ok, so you think you are mature enough that you aren't stupid enough to give this information out or you would not fall for such a scam by a myspace predator.........so thought the ones that were killed or raped! MySpace is a bad place to be....do yourself a favor.....just stay away from it

Myspace presents predatory pedophiles a veritable smorgasbord of nubile naive youngsters to choose from... there is no security whatsoever, and vulnerable trusting kids can be easily led astray by unscrupulous perverts. At least that's the message the media sends your parents.... it doesn't really matter if that's true or not... its the general perception.

Because it IS. And no one realizes until they get hacked or attacked.

MySpace is all over the news these days because that is the most unsecure site made by some two teenagers.

They say "MySpace and YourVirus"

I also read YouTube.com was hackers' next target.

parents think myspace is a bad site beacuse people van go on and read information and track you down and parents worry about that sort of thing with young teenages girls or teenagers in general .. but if u compromise with your parents and tell them about how you can make your site private and actually control who looks at your site they may understand that it isnt that bad
