If I format my hard drive, that means My windows files willl be gone. And since I don't have Windows XP Media Center's CD, how will I be able to format and re-install my windows on my computer?

If you must know, I have an HP Pavilion dv9000t Notebook. Does BIOS contain your Windows so you can re-install them without the CD?

No, the bios contains only the information about the whereabouts of your hardware, nothing else. You need a separate windows installation disk in order to reinstall windows, there is no alternative to it

No, Bios has nothing to do with windows. You can purchase a recovery disk from HP for your computer or go and buy a new copy of Windows media center.

I would not suggest doing a system backup or ghost since I am assuming you have issues with your current installation, since you want to reformat the drive to begin with....

If data on your hard disk is corrupted it is advisable to format the hard disk and reinstall the operating system (usually Windows XP). If a new hard disk is used, you may prefer to partition the hard disk into 2 or more drive. The operating system is installed on the first drive and a backup of the data is stored on the second drive More details at http://fixit.in/format.html

Here is your only soultion, rebuy windows xp for whatever edition you orignally had. Or use the dics that came with ur computer, if you were responsible enough to keep the discs that is. Or try and restore your computer to an earlier date if you did it within the last two or three months.

if you are the first owner of that laptop, you should be able to call HP and have them do it, there is an icon on the control panel where you can do a restore on your computer, but you have to call customer service so they can get some information on the laptop. they will go step by step how to do it.. good luck......
