or do you like tubes the best ?

Some like riding tubes, but I remember as a kid we had those sleds with runners, and we could steer them.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS BEST ?

A Toboggan is great! They really move! As kids we had what was called a "traverse". It was about 12 feet long. It had runners in the front that could be moved to steer and back runners were stationary and they guy up front steered and the guy in back was the "brakeman". It was only about 12 inches wide and all us kids sat in a line on it. It would hold about 8 kids. with all that weight it would really go like heck, but it was also dangerous too. Man, I miss those days.

Sleds with runners. A bob sled type is best - the kind with short front runners separate from the rear runners as it is more maneuverable.

I had the sled with runners. But they didn't seem to actually steer real well. We also used old car hoods. I would love to go sledding, but once it hits below 50 degrees, I cannot stand it. that keeps in in FLA most of the time................. Have fun

It depends on the snow conditions, the sleds with runners need a well packed or iced surface, even a snowmobile trail, (think of the bobsled/luge events), where/when you have softer and especially wet snow you want a broad surface like on the toboggans, snow tubes, snow saucers, etc.

You can do serious sledding with a big piece of cardboard. I know it seems odd, but the board slides so well. And you can kind of steer it by bending the edges in front.
