It is our basic biological make-up. At one time it was simply procreation and biological...today there is social interaction because we have become more sophisticated.

I wish I had my web information handy on this but it would take me an hour to find it...

Do a thought experiment. Wish away all " aspects "of society, or imagine they never existed. Sexual attraction exists independent of any societal construct. It is the most ultimate drive of our genes, in their goal of replication. The social trappings are just that, trappings. Weak proximate causation.

Only in the psychology section could this question be framed.

I read an article in NewScientist magazine, stating that sexual attraction depends on immunity. If for example a female is immune to different pathogens compared to another male, then there will be a high degree of sexual attraction. In another case, if a female and male immunity resembles one another, then there will be a low degree of sexual attraction. This mechanism of attraction evolved because it increases the chances of survival of the offspring.

It is a mixture. While your biological make-up determines many factors, your surroundings and your environment during your development stages are also a huge factor, and can change your attraction to certain qualities in women all the way to your sexual persuasion. That's not to say your bioligical make-up doesn't play a role, but this mostly plays into your sexual persuasion and your virility.

It's both.

Some parts of us like instant sexual attraction operate off the primal brain in us all, while for many of us we feel a better urge after the first five minutes of interaction with each other.

In simplest forms, we're attracted by our biological, primal instincts, but our higher instincts like pleasing conversation keep us attracted.
