I had my last period on Thanksgiving, and haven't had one in December yet. I took a pregnancy test, even though my husband and I haven't had sex since I had my last period, but a co-worker told me that I could still be pregnant and have a period. It came out negative.

What else could be a reason for a late period?

Just some details: I am only 29, so I certainly hope I am not going through the change.
I do have a very stressed job, but I have had this job for a long time, and haven't had this problem before.
I do have a poor diet. I eat alot of junk food. LOL Yeah, bad I know.

I can't believe I am going to admit this, but it certainly isn't low body fat. LOL

Stress, poor diet, lack of the proper vitamins and minerals, to much exercising and my personal favorite (I'm being funny)....low to no body fat.

There are so many factors...however, you could be pregnant and have spotting, not a 'true' period. If you had a true period like you are used to having, you would most like have a miscarriage.

I am not a nurse or a doctor. I would suggest however that you seek medical attention is you are uncertain what is going on. Most likely, the cause of your missed period this month....is worry!

Good luck and STOP LISTENING TO YOUR COWORKER! That will only add to your stress levels!

Having an irregular period could be related to stress, hormonal imbalances, excessive exercise and/or weight loss, and sleep and nutrition deficiencies, among other potential factors. All of these factors can influence a woman's reproductive cycle. A change in a period may also be an indicator of pregnancy.

If you are concerned about the changes in your period, it is recommended you see your clinician.

There are many different reasons. 1) Maybe your stressed from the holidays. Stress does weird things to your body, and a late or early period can be one of them. 2)Ovarian cyst. 3)Cervical cancer may be an option, but probably highly unlikely. If you still haven't gotten your period in a couple of months and have still concluded that you aren't pregnant, I would investigate this one further, but otherwise, no worries. 4)Menopause?

Women are complex critters... from the women I've known...

Stress of any kind can cause a skipped or late period.
Changes in exercise.
Changes in diet (and the holidays certainly do that...)
Bulimia or Anorexia

Those are the common ones I've encountered.

And you might want to hit a Planned Parenthood for a 'real' pregnancy test - you never know.

The holidays are a wonderful time for stress. If you are worried then make an appt with your MD and have a blood test. It is possible to be pregnant and still have a period. Just go to your doctor and see for sure. You probably have nothing to worry about. Good luck.

Just asked the wife. She says diet and stress can cause it to happen. With the Holidays here, both will factor into play here. Also, if you are a tiny woman, you will have a hard time maintaining a regular period anyway.

Ahh the uterus is a fickle creature. It could be a variety of things from weight loss, weight gain, stress, over exercising, change in medications, change in diet. Also every seven years your cycle changes so that could be it as well. If it is a concern please see a doctor about this. He/She can run a variety of tests to find out why your period is missing. Also read the source I provided for more information.

Good luck and I hate to say this I hope you get your period..lol.

Could be a left over germ from a cold or the flu, worry, infection of some sort (even tho you dont have any symptoms) depending on your age you could be starting thru the change.(periods will get very erratic at this time and continue erratic for up to 4 yrs.). Consult obgyn to rule out something serious that may not produce symptoms. (cyst or polyp)

You don't have to be pregnant to have a late/missed period. Sometimes a combination of stress, lack of sleep, and poor diet can trigger the same effects.
