Is Limewire illegal? Does it ruin your computer?

Limewire itself is not illegal.
The content that you download off of Limewire is illegal though.
Limewire has sent viruses through it on some occasions, but for the average person, your computer will be fine if you have plenty of anti-spyware/anti-virus programs on your computer.
Your best bet is to not use Limewire at all. It will save you the trouble of the chance of getting a virus, and getting a lawsuit slapped on you.

It can slow it down. The songs may have viruses and there is no way to know or not. The program itself is not illegal. However their are very few legal things you can do on it. Most stuff like sharing music, vids, and things you could buy in the store is illegal. It;s not ad supported like many think and the pro version doesn't make the file sharing legal. There is a brand new site coming out that will be ad supported and u can get free songs by watching a commercial per a song. Hope this helps. I was wondering the same thing a while ago and researched it alot.

To have the program on your computer is not illegal. What is illegal is to download copywrited material. Limewire is relativly safe provided you have a good virus scanner. If you choose to break the law and download software programs then you are asking for a virus. The program itself does not ruin your computer, but the itams you download could.

that could be a yes but then again a no. you see it could be a yes because unlike itunes, rhapsody, napster and all those other song downloading thing, it has no commerical, which isn't normal right, and i dont think you can just download a song like that, because it isnt free(nothing is free) so yea
but it could not be illegal because come on everybody knows about it, they would've been closed that down
so yea, limewire can be illegal, but if you dont want to get in trouble because your not sure if its illegal or not after downloading your songs, you can go to file and click disconnect.

It is indeed illegal :D, but who knows that you have it ? :P
The program itself can't ruin you pc, but it can ruin your computer if you'll download a file that contains a virus, so when you're downloading something from limewire, before opening it (even if it's just a pic or an mp3 ) scan it with your anti-virus first.

Downloading songs from limewire is illegal. It ruins your computer if you download something that seems like a virus, no bitrate, like only one people putting it up for download.

Use it all the time and not a problem. Make sure you have firewall and virus scannners. If the computer can not run the file it willl say so and give a warinig a bout potential dangerous files. Not illegal pay the fee and have fun.
