Blistex Silk & Shine is my favorite balm. I always keep some in my coat pocket.
I prefer using Sally Hansen Lip Plumper and Conditioner under a CG Wet Slicks lip gloss. Keeps my lips looking and feeling good all day, with just a touch-up after eating.
Carmex is good for cold sores because it contains chemicals to dry the sore. It feels good on normal lips, but only for a short time. All too soon your lips will feel dry again and you will have to reapply it. I know, I'm a recovering Carmex addict.

Vaseline, Crisco, or Vitamin E gel-caps. The first two are mega-cheap, and be put into any brand-name container, and work AS WELL OR BETTER than paraffin-based lip balms. Essential E gelcaps (you see them everywhere) are inexpensive and relatively convenient. You puncture the end of one with a needle and just squeeze it out a drop at a time onto your lips.

Burts Bees...It lasts way longer than carmex (waxy), Chapstick (waxier) and blistex (almost watery). It leaves a minty fresh feeling a few seconds after application, too.

soft lips works good. put it on before you go to bed. it will take some of the dead skin off your lips and this may seem weird don't use carmex. i talked to a nurse about it and alot of people use it but believe it or not it has tiny pieces of fiber glass in it.

i have rediculously dry, chapped lips, and i have tried every lip balm known to man. the only one that actually works is chapstick. although i'm guessing your lips aren't quite as dry as mine, so softlips is also a good bet.
