Do it and also and error check, won't do anything bad to your computer. Just moves information around so that programs will start faster.

You should run the disk defragmenter. It helps your computer; it doesn't hurt it. It basically just cleans everything up and compresses everything and makes things run smoother. You'll probably notice a difference in the way your computer runs once you've done it. And do it regularly, about once a month or so.

You need to think of your computer hard drive just like a great big record.

when programs use it they don't always get to put their information in one place. It may be spread over several areas.

A defragmenter goes in and cleans it up and puts the documents and files together. This will speed up your computer and allow you to work faster.

Hope this helps.

When you defragment you hard drive you are basically arranging the files stored on you drive in a specific order for faster access.

It will be fine to defrag your drive about every 3 or 4 weeks if you install and/or delete programs alot.

Think of your disk as a big parking lot full of cars.... other cars coming in have to slow down to look for an empty space to park. defragmeting moves all the cars to one side and all the empty spaces to the other so the new cars can park faster. Defragmenting does help your pc and it doesn't harm anything...my advice: do it. :) good luck.

a microsoft windows tool to manage the structure of data in your harddisk, normally it will make the reading of local data faster and save space in harddisk. no harm will do but if you got a lot of thing in the drive, it may take a few hrs to complete it...

Yes you should defenitely do it. "Defragment" means to "put back together." So it will collect all the files spread all over your PC and organize them together so that your programs and your PC is able to load and bood easily.

Please do defragment your PC!!
