Probably because our government wants the four day weekend. We other poor slobs get one day off in the middle of the week then have to go back to work for one day. Oh such is life! lol

I like it on a Thursday. That way I can have a 4 day weekend. If it were on a Friday, I would only have a 3 day weekend. It works for me.

probably want to avoid the public backlash. Franklin D Roosevelt tried changing it from the fourth Thursday to the third in 1940-41, but the outcry from that forced him to put it back to where Lincoln originally assigned it.

I like it being on Thursday because we get a 4 day weekend.
The government could change it if they wanted.
