Of the two, I'd go for Ripley. Match Point was OK, but I wouldn't necessarily watch it again - it seemed to drag and meander to make its points, delicious as though those points ultimately were. Ripley had more character-hooks and seemed a more frightening version of the "life invasion" idea, as with him it seemed he reached a transgressive beginning at the end of the movie, whereas Match Point seemed to be a genuine ending of the dark time in these people's lives.

The Talented Mr. Ripley was my introduction to Matt Damon. It is a quirky film that is very good and full of surprises. Not wanting to give anything away, but it is a movie full of wonderful acting. It is a movie definitely to have in your DVd collection if you like drama. Match point I am not too sure of, have not seen it.

Interesting. I actually had to think quite a bit about this one. You pose a great question. But, I would have to say Ripley just because it's been one of my favorite movies for a longer period of time. Plus I already know it's a great watch the 3rd and 4th time.
