Never, you will get caught eventually.... especially if you live with non-smokers. Their sense of smell is much stronger. You can try to cover up the smell with air freshener, candles, and incenses but the cigarette smell can still travel through vents and under the door way. And if you smoke in there long enough the walls will soon turn yellow. Not to mention you disobeying the rules only indicates your lack of respect for the homeowners. And if they see you have no respect for them they may ask you to move. So, think about the consequences next time you start to light up in the bathroom.

Even though I live alone at my own place and make the rules I still go outside all the time. How else can I expect someone to respect my wishes if I don't always follow them?

Absolutely not. I respect my parents and anyone's rights to a smoke free house. It is thier house and while I am a guest I follow thier rules. After all I'd want them to follow my house rules in my home.

Used to. But unless you've got a window or are prepared to spend a long time in the toilet the smell will be noticeable.
